In this week, I feel so confuse to choose what poetry I should analyze. It’s because I’m lacking so much to analyze poetry I think. But, finally I have choose ‘Meditatio’ by Ezra Loomis Pound (1885-1972).
This poetry has revealed the fact of human beings. Just like the first line, that man is the superior animal. We, the human, also have the characteristic and potentials of animal, the dog. Everyone knows it. But, actually human is much cleverer than animal. They probably can do something that animal can’t. That’s why when human act maybe more dangerous than the dog itself. This is human, the superior animal.
This poetry is so unique, with two stanzas can tell us clearly about something important of human essence. Just like the title ‘Meditatio’, can’t you feel that Ezra Loomis Pound want us, human, to think, to muse the reality of ourselves, and realize our essence?
